A special meeting was held in Moldova, between the Israeli Embassy located there and the Chabad Shliach and Chief Rabbi of Moldova Rabbi Zalman Abelsky.
The Israeli Embassy’s delegation consisted of Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova Mr. Felix Mindel and Israel’s Moldovan consul Mr. S. Nizensky. Mr. Mindel resides permanently in Ukraine and made the trip to Moldova especially to meet with the chief rabbi and to discuss with him timely topics. Mr. Nizensky has always been in touch and assisted the local Jewish community and Chabad in Moldova’s capital Kishinev.
During the visit, the participants were briefed on Chabad activities in the country and the required supplies for Jews throughout the region. Following the briefing, an interview was held by the Chabad-run magazine for Jews throughout Moldova “Maayanot Hachayim”. The delegation was particularly impressed by the magazine’s large circulation and its insightful Jewish content, bringing Judaism and the message of Moshiach to thousands across the country and beyond.
At the conclusion, both parties bid each other farewell and the Israeli representatives blessed the shliach with continued success and further activity in bringing Jews together and making them aware of their heritage.
